Mrs Pargeter’s Principle
by Simon Brett

Meet Mrs Melita Pargeter, a vivacious widow with a talent for solving mysteries.

The funeral of well-connected Sir Normington Winthrop is a surprisingly jolly affair. Having found Sir Normington’s name in her late husband’s little black book, Melita has come to pay her respects — and to discover what connected him to the dear, departed Mr P.

But when Melita approaches Sir Normington’s grieving widow, she is confronted by the mysterious Edmund Grainger. He coolly threatens Melita to stay away from the teary Lady Winthrop, or else . . .

For Melita, it’s a matter of principle to stand up to bullies like Grainger. She’s more determined than ever to uncover any skeletons in Sir Normington’s closet.

Melita’s investigations will draw her into a shady world of blackmail, murder . . . and a kidnapped vicar. As she draws closer to the truth, she discovers that at least one of Sir Normington’s many friends and acquaintances is determined to stop her — whatever it takes . . .

Fans of Agatha Christie, M.C. Beaton, The Thursday Murder Club, Faith Martin, Jeanne M. Dams and Jane Adams will be hooked from the very first page!
